Dear Friend

The running community has lost a dear friend today - Will Chamberlin. I have known Will for 8 years. After my husband, Wayne, and I married 9 years ago, Wayne started running again. We took his two sons, Ben and Daniel, with us to races in the Athens/Monroe/Atlanta area. Will was the first person I came in contact with in racing. I soon grew to love Will and Carole and learned a lot from both of them. Will soon trusted me enough to allow me to help with the posting of finish cards at the races. I was thrilled to do this. When we moved to South GA five years ago, we did not have the opportunity to see Will often. It had been about 2 years since we had seen he and Carole. April, 3, 2010, we were able to go to a race in Monroe GA and see Will, Carole and several of the other runners. I am so thankful to Heavenly Father for allowing us to see Will one more time. God's timing was perfect and gracious. To know Will, was to know what OCD really is. You gotta love him! Carole, my prayers are with you and the family.

  1. Kathy, thanks for doing this blog for Will. You know as we as all of us do that we will never forget Will, he was truly one of a kind.

He made running so much fun; from the fastest to the slowest runner, he cheered us on thru the finish line, calling 99% of us by name!!

Tonight at the Dale Sanders 5k, it was sad; none of us can believe that our Will is gone. Gary & Anne marked the road in chalk with his saying "have a good race, have a safe race"!! They even wrote it on paper and attached it to the cones; I got a photo and I'm using it on Facebook for my profile picture.

I know its gonna really hit me hard Sunday at Will's Memorial Service; that is when we will all come out of our "shocked state" and realize that we have to say our goodbyes to Will now but we will meet him again!!

He's got some good company up there in Heaven, some I can think of right off the bat are Dr Benson, Jim Mauldin, and Ray Foy; they will all be at the finish line waiting for us when its our time............

Thanks again for making this "blogspot" for Will; I will get Anne to send it out to everyone on her running list!!

    Janice
